Rock & Rivers Adventure Camp
For ages 13 - 17
Immerse yourself in a week of of multi-sport adventure in the mountainous regions of Maine. This area is home to rugged mountains, whitewater rivers, and rich Native American history and legends. During the week campers will journey across the region rock climbing, hiking, rappelling, rafting and camping alongside pristine Maine lakes and rivers. Campers will take on the challenge of hiking peaks within Baxter State Park such as Katahdin, Maine's highest peak and the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail. Then it's off to Mount Kineo, an island in Moosehead Lake to hike and climb for a day before journeying further down the Kennebec River watershed to rappel a waterfall, construct a rope bridge across Moxie Stream and relax in clear pools and potholes along the stream. You can test your fingertips while rock climbing high above Lake Moxie before boarding rafts to challenge some of the world's greatest whitewater rapids on the Kennebec River. Campers will shoot through rapids with names like Magic Falls, Big Mama, and Whitewasher. The final leg of our journey brings us back to Acadia National Park to find even more adventure along the coast. Limit: 10. No experience necessary. Whitewater programs will be led by ACA certified instructors and all rock climbing will be taught by PCIA or AMGA certified instructors.
